A short story of switching to the G13 tariff, which saved me money

In October I switched my tariff group from G11 to G13. I wanted to save money, so I took a close look at how my house actually uses electricity.

In October I decided to switch my tariff group from G11 to G13. The decision came from wanting to save money, so I made up my mind to look closely at how my house uses energy.

Before the tariff change

I analysed my own electricity consumption profile. I made a simple simulation in Excel to see how my consumption compares across other tariffs, and according to my analysis the best one was G13.

Changing the tariff

I filled in an online form with my energy seller and changed the tariff in 15 minutes. A few days later an electrician replaced my old meter with a remote one, and the settings for the new tariff were already working.

Adjusting to the new tariff

After the change I adjusted to the new schedule. From now on I run the more “power hungry” devices when energy is cheapest. NOTE! It is not that I stand next to every dryer and washing machine waiting for the clock to hit 13:00 to start them. I use the delayed start function built in at the factory.

Consumption after the tariff change

Below I am posting a screenshot from the energy advisor in the eLicznik app for December 2025. It is too early for the 2026 results, but I think I am on the right track. I already have the schedule in my head. I recommend checking what the tariffs look like at your energy seller and seeing whether you can run devices at the time when energy is cheapest.

PS. Did you know that energy prices in 2026 are no longer frozen?

The above is my personal experience and my choice. THIS IS NOT A RECOMMENDATION TO MAKE CHANGES. EVERYONE HAS TO ANALYSE FOR THEMSELVES WHETHER THE CHANGE WILL PAY OFF.
