A tidy inbox

My inbox stopped being a bin. For a long time I was drowning in email chaos, and for over a year now it has been tidy. Here is how I took back control.

My inbox stopped being a bin! 🗑️ For a long time I was drowning in email chaos, and for over a year now it has been tidy.

Here is how I took back control (in a few simple steps):

1️⃣ The “unsubscribe” button: if I have not opened a newsletter for a long time, I unsubscribe from it. No sentiment. This is the best way to cut down on pointless messages.

2️⃣ Hide my e-mail: I protect my main address from spam, and I can switch off the extra random one whenever I need to.

3️⃣ I filter my mail: important things land at the top, the rest goes to the bottom. It is much easier for me to focus on what matters.

4️⃣ I archive or delete: my inbox has to be clean. Once something is dealt with, I archive it or delete it.

And how does it look on your side? Do you have 0 unread messages, or are you getting close to 1000?

Do you look at technology the same way?

I run technology products and write here about how that turns out. Take a look at the tools I use day to day.
